Personal Therapy

Richard is a soul psychotherapeutic counsellor and nature-based guide rooted in the belief that deep healing happens in relationship; with ourselves, others and the living world around us. His practice is grounded in the rhythms of the Earth, drawing on the restorative power of nature to help people reconnect to their inner truth, navigate transitions, and tend to the soul wounds that conventional therapy often overlooks.
“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.”
John Muir
Weaving together evidence-based psychotherapy with ancient, earth-honouring traditions, my therapy sessions often take place outdoors; in forests, near rivers or on open land, where the elements themselves become co-facilitators in the healing process. I am fascinated by working in creative and embodied ways and draw heavily on my music, theatre and performance background. As a keen writer, I also lean heavily on poetry and writing as a way of exploration and expression.
I specialise in working with adults who feel called to explore their inner landscape through direct relationship with the natural world. Many of my clients are navigating grief, burnout, trauma, life transitions or a longing for deeper meaning. In our work together, we listen for the soul’s voice, often quieted by modern life, and respond to its call with curiosity, care and presence.
Nature is not just a backdrop; it is a wise mirror, teacher and partner. Whether sitting beneath trees in silence, walking barefoot on sacred ground, or marking seasonal thresholds through ritual, I support clients in finding their own embodied way back to wholeness.
If you’re yearning for a deeper connection to yourself, to the Earth and to something greater, I welcome you to reach out.
Together, we’ll walk a path of soul remembrance, guided by the wisdom of the wild.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How do the therapy sessions work?
I offer hybrid format therapy where sometimes we meet outdoors and sometimes online. This works well for those who live further afield and can only make occasional outdoor sessions. We are all needing to adjust to modern life and the complexities that it brings us. Despite my hybrid offering, there is really no substitute for being in the embodied presence of another as you undertake this work on yourself.
2. How can I start therapy sessions?
I work with a limited number of clients each week and, because of that, tend to have few available spaces. If you are interested in us working together, please do get in touch and we can discuss your needs and the options available. Even the initial move of making contact, is a significant one in the adventure of your life. I don’t under estimate how big a first step this can be.
3. How many sessions do I need?
Therapy is a journey and therefore I book sessions in sets of 6, each of which last for 50 minutes. We continuously evaluate your needs and progress and more sessions can be booked if required.
4. Do the sessions run in all seasons?
Yes I work outside therapeutically in all seasons, except for the bleakest days where we’d be wading around in a muddy bog! At this point, we will move to an online format.
